I go on different boards or see friends on FB and they have these beautiful school rooms for their little ones. I am green with envy sometimes. We don't have one and we don't have the room for one. Our living situation is unique in that we live with my parents. Partially because I was very ill last year and went through a divorce and partially because it works for us. After a traumatic year, the kids are HAPPY here. Without their father in their lives (for the most part), my parents and I offer stability as a family unit that the need desperately right now. And in return, I get a little more help than most single moms!

That said... WE STILL HAVE NO ROOM FOR A SCHOOL ROOM... and even though we are following the CM method, I think it would be nice. But we are living proof that  homeschooling can be done without one. I have a desk filled with the weekly things I plan on accomplishing and a walk-in closet with book shelves that are overflowing and a ton of ever handy rubbermaid containers. We utlize the dining table for arts and crafts and I have a folding table I found at a garage sale that I pull out almost daily... ok, somedays, it STAYS OUT. I don't claim to be a neat freak ;-) When the weather was a bit nicer, we spent most of our reading time and learning time at the picnic table on the creek. I think NOT having a schoolroom does make for a more nuturing learning environment and one a little less "school-like"... but for a girl can dream... and make do in the meantime.

  1. We have hardly used our school room since the last time I rearranged it. LOL. We've been crafting at the kitchen table, spending time outside in the awesome weather & even crafting at other locations, like the library & Chick-Fil-A!
I think having a school room can be wonderful, but also, not having one, or not utilizing it, can also be wonderful! It's good to find other locations than the norm sometimes! You're doing a wonderful job mama!

  2. From what I have read, I think CM would LOVE that you are doing so much outside. It'll make them feel more connected to nature :) We don't have a schoolroom either. The kitchen table, couch, and front porch are used in its place.
